Grassroots Engagement Director / Potential Cofounder Opportunity

We need an experienced grassroots organizer to build and lead this movement. You’ll design the grassroots strategy and tactics from the ground up, including architecting the volunteer infrastructure, team, and mobilization strategies that transform public concern into political pressure. This is a leadership team position, with the opportunity to shape humanity’s response to risks from AI starting from zero. (There is also potential to join as a cofounder, depending on experience.) Responsibilities

• Design grassroots strategy and tactics from the ground up
• Build volunteer leadership pipeline using “snowflake model” (leaders training leaders)
• Develop engagement ladder from first-touch to chapter leadership
• Create coalition partnerships with relevant constituencies
• Oversee state-level policy campaigns and federal mobilization efforts
• Build and manage team of regional organizers across timezones
• Establish metrics and systems for tracking movement growth
• Partner with CEO and the leadership team on fundraising and major donor cultivation

What We’re Looking For

• 3+ years leading successful grassroots campaigns with demonstrable membership growth
• Experience with “outside game” pressure campaigns on legislation
• Track record building from start to 1000+ active volunteers
• Data-driven approach to organizing with strong analytical skills
• Genuine concern for risks from AI, including potential existential risks (mitigating risks from extinction from AI due to loss of control from advanced future AI e.g. here, here, here)
• Comfortable starting from zero; ability to hire their own team from the ground up and build all infrastructure
• Excellent internal and external communication skills, adaptive and responsive to feedback and developments
• Unwavering commitment to truth-tracking and non-deceptive messaging

Ideal Candidates Bring

• Experience with bipartisan organizing strongly preferred
• Experience with both digital organizing and in-person movement building (in-person experience required)
• Experience with bipartisan media outlets and messaging
• Understanding of security considerations for politically sensitive organizations

Reporting Structure

Reports to the CEO on the leadership team, or joins as a cofounder.

The Executive Director is intending to have final authority on strategy and external representation, and is responsible for fundraising, hiring, and publicly representing the organization if this is the approach we take.

Location

Remote with regular travel required (must be authorized to work in US and work US timezone)

Compensation

$XXX base + performance bonuses tied to movement growth metrics + benefits package
